Janet is a 1969 graduate of Hampton Institute where she earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry, also studied at the University of North Carolina School of Business', Chapel Hill Young Executives Institute. Janet , currently is vice president of product chemistry and information sciences at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, is responsible for the technical leadership of the product and process analytical chemistry division, standard analytical chemistry division and the scientific information divisions, which include computer technology and the research and development library. Janet worked her way up through the ranks at R.J. Reynolds, first working as a junior research chemist after she graduated from Hampton in 1969. She was promoted to associate research chemist in 1974 and to tobacco development chemist in 1979. She became group leader in 1980 until she was promoted to manager, materials development in 1980. In 1988 she became manager of research & development planning and in October 1992 was promoted to director of research & development planning/administration. She took her current position as vice president of product chemistry and information sciences in 1999.
Saint Augustine's Colleges Names New Board Members Janet serves on several boards, to include: First Union National Bank, Wake Forest University Board of Visitors, Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County, Hospice Foundation. She is a member of numerous social and civic organizations to include: the Winston-Salem Urban League, LINKS, Inc., and the scientific organizations, the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi.
